LUBEGA COSMAS FOUNDATION UGANDA

human livelihood first

This project was sponsored by the Wereld Wiskunde Fonds (WWF), an association of mathematics teachers in the Netherlands under their umbrella NVvW. WWF donated 4,832 euros for this project. The items acquired for the project include 343 mathematics text books, 200 calculators, 1,186 geometry sets, 5 laptops, two teacher trips and two two student trips, permanent internet at the
school. Above all, the school library that was previously small got expanded into a big modern
library. The project is benefiting 1,186 students. The main aim of the project is to ensure that by the end of 2023, learning and studying mathematics in secondary school in Nambi has become a passion and an integral part of the students and
mathematics teachers. To ensure that Mathematics is promoted and encouraged to all the
desperate and vulnerable students who study it and all the teachers who teach it in this school, so
that the students love it and excel in national examinations. This helps them to progress to higher
education and university.

The students and teachers are so motivated, inspired and enthusiastic about the materials of the project. They show a serious improvement in their confidence in understanding and solving math questions. The school had a substandard library. The addition of 343 mathematics books has significantly given the school one of the best libraries in this rural area. LUCOF built book shelves
that were placed in the existing library. Within a few months, students can understand a number of mathematics concepts. The students can solve many mathematical questions. They can easily solve the questions of the national exams as well as the questions given to them from other local schools. The students can debate with other students nearby about various mathematical questions.
Thank you WWF for sponsoring this project!
