Children in action project: Helping children remain creative during lockdown.

We partnered with friends in Uganda and friends in the Netherlands in doing this project. Schools were closed in Uganda due to Covid19. Many children remained home, while others got pregnant or joined illegal businesses. To reduce the risk that could arise from redundancy, LUCOF and its partners developed programs to make the youth busy:

  • Sport activities
  • Use of tablets to play games
  • Buying radios for families so that children listen to teaching programs

This helped keep away the children from bad behavior. This also helped LUCOF track down and monitor all children, so that they can easily start school in when schools reopen in January 2022. That is why 95% of students in LUCOF-supported schools came back to school after the two year lock down and school closure. The project had impact on more than 600 children.
