Covid 19 response

In Uganda, the poor are always an afterthought. It seems strange, given that it is a country where millions of people live in extreme poverty, but that is how things have always been. Matters became even worse since the lockdown has begun. With no money and no documents to help them access relief measures related to food, health, water, sanitation, shelter and livelihood, the poor in Uganda have become the most vulnerable to the immediate impact and aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis.

However, LUCOF has expressed its solidarity with those less fortunate and have helped cater to their food and nutrition requirements. Our foundation has managed to convert its non-Formal Education centers into Ration Distribution Centers and have successfully provided families easy access to their ration kits from the ration distribution centers, which include food, water, sanitizer and medical assistance to the poor homes.

Food relief project

LUCOF worked with a number of partners to supply more than 170,500 kg of food to about 3,574 families in the villages of Kamwano, Kyetume, Wabitungulu, Bulami, Janda, Namakofu, Nakaseeta, Kirela, Kabulanaka, Namawojja, Zana among others. The food supplied food was mainly harvested from our farms in Kamwano, Namakofu. The food items we had to buy include cooking oil and rice. The food harvested from our farms include bananas, maize, sweet potatoes and vegetables.

LUCOF also supplied handwashing water tanks, sanitizer, soap and clothes to households to increase hygiene and consequently fight Covid19

LUCOF also worked with Red cross, World Vision and UNICEF to ensure that rural communities access Covid19 relief
