Modern farming project for the vulnerable groups-Nakaseke
This is a LUCOF program targeting food security and improved livelihoods for marginalized groups of youth, women and People With Disabilities (PWD) in Butalangu subcounty. The overall goal of the project was to ensure improved livelihood for women, youth and PWDs in Zirobwe as a result of having inclusive markets for selected value chain enterprises of coffee, maize, potatoes, tomatoes and cassava. Also, the project has a goal sensitizing local about modern farming methods. The project is being implemented in three pathways where LUCOF is working a number of local women and youth organizations. LUCOF Uganda also facilitated a subcounty Food Security and Livelihoods (FSAL) coordination meeting for partners in the subcounty. Child advocacy focusing on child nutrition and child labor were highlighted during different meetings. Area study also Identified 500 small scale farmer widows and women with HIV/Aids in the neighboring Zirobwe subcounty in Luwero district who need urgent help to access water, so that they can practice modern agriculture.
